All about roofs - Part1

As a home improvement professional or as a do it yourself diehard you will need to know all about roofing. A good thing is that you can hire roofing contractors who will do the job for you. Well yes they will however the fact is that these roofing contractors are very costly and you will be better off doing your own thing.
That is why I wanted this post up as I wanted to explain what roofing is?

Let us first talk about pitched roofs. These pitched roofs are very common in all homes who have a wooden home and these will in areas where there is snow. The benefit of pitched timber roofs is that it will help slide off the snow and water easily off the roof. To help build a solid pitched roof there is this triangular section called the rood truss. Roof trusses are the basic building block of the pitched roofs. You can know all about roof trusses here. Apart from pitched rood you can also go in for flat roofing. Flat roofing is less expensive however the chances are that it will cause problems later. The reason for that being that it will not be able to drain off the water after rain. You are more likely to have roofing issues later. The most common materials used in building flat roofs are asphalt, cola tar and Hypalon or Turbo Seal.

Apart from these there are other roofing materials that are used which can be shingles or tiles. Then there is the EPDM or plastics including PVC. To select a proper roof and the subsequent roof you will need to consider factors like location, the weather conditions and of course the cost that is involved in building that roof.
